Hyperplastic Typhoid Follicles – A Case

The term Hyperplastic is adjective of Hyperplasia ( Or Hypergenesis ) ; means excessive proliferation of normal cells in the arrangement of cells in an organ. Due to  infection, as in case of typhoid fever, there is invasion of ileum and colon and the drainage system, leading to painful discomfort like stinging/sticking, burning sensations.

A 30 Yrs. Male came to me on 24.6.2018 . He was diagnosed as suffering from Hyperplastic Typhoid Follicles.

The patient  described his complaints as follows:

• Pain in the lower mid abdomen (Hypogastric region), pressure   <
• A feeling of slight stinging pain in a small area near anal area.
• Burning sensation in the rectum area before , during and after the stool.
• Feels as if  distended lower abdomen would burst; relieved by sour belching.
•  Has to balance himself  when rising from sitting ; a tendency to fall if continued to walk. Therefore, has to discontinue walking.
• Sleep is disturbed as being an advocate he has to plan his work for the following day; the sleep is unrefreshing.  Has no dreams.
• Extremely prone to stick to his opinions ;  contradiction / opposition leads him to violent rage with a desire to kill the person who contradicts.  May even strike . But if somebody justifiably clarifies the situation feels consolation.

Analysis : The patient had taken various treatments over the past many years. He related  no particular cause of his disease. His problem with strong mental and emotional symptoms was repertorised as follows precisely keeping the chief complaint.

As per this repertorised evaluation Acid Nitric 200 was selected; A dose was given with placebo for two weeks.

FUP 8.7.2018: The patient is much relieved of his sufferings. Plan to continue placebo for further 2 weeks

FUP  20.7.2018: As the patient reported return of some of his complaints so, Acid Nitric 200 was repeated with placebo for two weeks.

The patient reported by telephone that he felt quite well; and would consult again if needed.

LEARNINGS :

• The patient had taken earlier many treatments but all in vain.
• Both Acid Nitric and Sulphur are known to neutralise the effects of previous medicines but for more intense affinity to the chief complaint of the patient both on mental , emotional and physical plane Acid Nitric was obvious selection.
• Working on psychological themes gives advantage of including more remedies in the selection of similimum so that even a smaller remedy is under active consideration.
